Family Feud
This is the third season of the Canadian version of the popular game show starring host-comedian Jerry Dee who will guide families through the question and answer game that showcases a diverse landscape of Canadians trying to find the most popular answers to some pretty tricky-funny-silly-cheeky questions.
“We’ve totally had to switch up our casting game from in-person auditions to virtual casting and honestly it’s such a treat because we’re meeting so many incredible families from across the country,” Donia Aly, supervising casting producer for Family Feud
Families have the opportunity to audition to be on the show from the comfort of their own home, she added.
They apply online by submitting a few fun facts about each family member and uploading a short video.
Aly offered some tips on how to make the most of the application process.
“In person we get to see that physical energy - people jumping up and down and dancing - so we encourage people to be energetic even if it is on Zoom so that’s smiling, clapping, high fiving each other, throwing up those team Xes and after you introduce yourself and family members on the show, we want them to tell us what hometown they are representing, why they are proud to represent their hometown, what makes their family unique - if there’s anything about their heritage that makes them proud, what brings them together as a family, do they have any unique or quirky traditions, what would you do with the prize money - you have the opportunity to win up to $30,000 on the show - we want to know about how you would spend the cash.”
If the initial audition goes well, it’s on to the next step.
“What happens next is our team will reach out to do a virtual audition and what’s great about this is that we understand that everyone has different schedules and sometimes not all family members reside under one roof, or in one city or even one province, so family members are able to join the call remotely which is kind of neat,” Aly said.
“We’re looking for all types of families with different types of personalities. It’s a game show so it’s a lot of fun and we’re looking for families who love having fun with a competitive team spirit. If your family watches the show and they’re playing along and yelling out the top answers and even if they’re not the top answers we want you to apply.”
When a family is picked and invited to participate in season three of Family Feud“If family members are from different provinces it’s a great way for families to unite or reunite even,” Aly said.
“Part of what makes the show so special is the representation of Canadian families that we have seen in previous seasons. As much as energetic families is something that we’re looking for we also want genuine, relatable families from different regions, backgrounds, ethnicities and cultures and if you're a fan of the show and you like having fun I really encourage people to apply. There’s nothing to lose and we want to meet you.”
