The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed another life in northern B.C.
The death in the Northern Health region was one of three COVID-related deaths reported on Monday. The province’s death toll from the pandemic rose to 1,759, including 157 cases in the Northern Health region.
Only one new case of COVID-19 was reported in the north over the weekend, and the number of active cases in the region dropped to 34, according to data released by the B.C. Centre for Disease Control on Monday. Two people in the Northern Health region were hospitalized with COVID-19 as of Monday, both in critical care.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 7,802 cases of COVID-19 in the Northern Health region, of which 7,611 people have recovered.
As of Monday, 78 per cent of people aged 12 and up have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and 36 per cent are fully vaccinated.
Throughout the province, nearly 5.29 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered, including 242,479 in the Northern Health region.
