The coffee is on at the Prince George Chamber of Commerce this morning. Stop by, pour yourself a cup and have a visit.

The CEO has a fresh pot brewing from 8 to 9 a.m. for anyone who wants to talk about the chamber.

"We try this several times a year, it has been working, we get very good pickup from the membership because some business operators can't make it to the other meetings. This is a better time for a lot of people, so they can have a dialogue with us," said Christie Ray, the chamber's chief administrator. She said some members of the board of directors would also be present to share in the casual conversations and answer any questions that might come up about how the Chamber of Commerce is governed.

"We've found it is a great way to have those idea-generating conversations, because people want to know what the chamber is doing, what the upcoming events are, what the programs are, what the business trends are in our city, and that brings up a lot of those topics that turn into great ideas," she said.

Ray said these coffeehouse mornings are also useful for the newest members who may not feel comfortable coming to a formal governance meeting, but wouldn't feel out of place dropping in for a casual chat over a steaming cuppa joe or a mug-o tea.

Some come and go in 10 minutes, just to say "Hi," and some stay the whole hour. Everyone is welcome and it's free.
