A dietitian and food historian is reaching out to regions of the world with large Scottish communities for recipes that blend traditional Scottish recipes with modern cuisine.
"Scotland has a diverse food culture which is deeply fascinating when combined with different periods of our history, such as the Highland Clearances, industrialization, war and migration," said Jill MacRae in an email.
"Scotland is often lambasted for our food heritage when, in fact, I feel it is something to be proud of. I hope to capture a flavour of this by collecting food memories in an anthology."
MacRae wants to focus on different areas where Scottish migration took place and wants to explore how the Scottish diet changed when a wider range of foods and ingredients were available.
"I'd love to hear if anyone has a recipe that illustrates this, a traditional dish made with ingredients from the new country," said MacRae.
"Equally though, I'm keen to capture treasured memories of food eaten that connect people to Scotland, once their family home.
"I would combine these memories with a wide range of recipes, traditional and modern."
