Bargain hunters will get an extra week too cash in on the value to be had in the Prince George Citizen's spring Auction Mall.
Items start closing on Thurs., March 26 and the last of the bidding will end at 7:30 p.m. on Sun., March 29.
More than 450 different types of goods and services - most in the form of gift cards, vouchers and memberships - from nearly 40 businesses are up for bid.
And given the variety of items, going onto the site is a bit like going into a mall. It's also a great way to support local businesses as they go through a tough economic time thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. Winning bidders can still use their bargains once the crisis has blown over.
Perhaps most important, the reserve bid is just 30 per cent of the list price, so there is value to be had.
"Good bargains, help the economy, help these businesses, help yourself," Citizen advertising director Shawn Cornell said.
Winning an item is simple - if you are the highest bidder when the auction closes, you win!
There are a couple of fun features along the way.
First, you can put in a maximum bid. If it's $50, for example, and the next highest bid is $20, the system will outbid the other person by $1 and you’ll be the winning bidder at $21.
The system will continue to outbid others for you by $1 all the way up to $50. If the bids never reach $50, you will pay the lowest amount needed to win.
This way you can place your highest bid and relax, no panicking in the very last minutes before the auction closes.
Second, there is the five-minute rule.
If anyone bids on an item in the last five minutes before closing, the system will automatically add another five minutes to the clock and will continue in five-minute extensions until there are no additional bids.
Only then will bidding close on an time and so, give you an opportunity to get in the last bid.
