Arson is the suspected cause of a fire that destroyed a Fort St. James home early Sunday morning.
No one was inside the 40 Williams Prairie Road home, which was engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived, Fort St. James RCMP said.
Off-duty Fort St. James RCMP officers traveling north on Highway 27 first saw the blaze at 4:18 a.m. when they noticed flames shooting from the home.
The fire is being treated as suspicious and police are asking anyone who may have seen vehicles or pedestrians coming or going from Williams Prairie Road between 3 a.m. and the time the officers saw the fire to call the Fort St. James RCMP at 250-996-8269.
