Northern Health is seeking applications for its annual Imagine grants program.
The health authority will award up to $300,000 in grants to community groups around the region who are engaged in health promotion activities. This year's theme is centred around the idea that "health happens in the community and prevention is everyone's responsibility."
Grants of up to $5,000 are available in the road health and HIV prevention categories; up to $3,000 in grant money is available for health eating and active living for your heart; up to $2,000 each for injury prevention as well as healthy eating and active living; and up to $1,000 each for tobacco free communities and harm reduction.
Among the criteria Northern Health is looking for in its applications are programs that will be able to continue after the grant funding ends; helping people or are disadvantaged or marginalized getting better access to health and reducing the risks and impacts of chronic illnesses.
The deadline for applications is Oct. 11. Information about how to apply for grants is available on the Northern Health website or by calling 250-645-6407.
