Advance voting for the School District 57 byelection runs from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
In Prince George, voters can case their ballot at the School District 57 main office, located at 2100 Ferry Ave. In Mackenzie, voters can cast their ballot at the District of Mackenzie office, located at 1 Mackenzie Blvd.
General election day in the byelection is Jan. 15.
In Prince George, Andrew Burton, Shannon Freeman, Milton Mahoney, Audrey McKinnon and Brian Trotter are running to fill the seat left vacant by former board chairperson Trent Derrick’s resignation.
In Mackenzie, David Szucsko and Rachael Weber are running to fill the seat left vacant by former vice-chairperson Shuirose Valimohamed’s resignation.
Profiles of each of the byelection candidates (excluding Szucko, who could not be reached) will be available online at pgcitizen.ca starting on Tuesday morning, and printed in the Jan. 13 edition of the paper.
No pre-registration is required to vote. Instead, voters will be required to declare they are at least 18 years old as of voting day, a Canadian citizen, a resident of B.C. for at least six months prior to voting day, and a resident of – or property owner – within the voting jurisdiction for at least 30 days prior to voting.
Voters will be required to produce two pieces of ID proving their identity and residency.
