I found it interesting to read that the snowfall measurement is obtained from Environment Canada for the purpose of the 10 cm criteria for snow plowing.
I would wish to bring to the attention of city staff that there is a high-tech device which can be used to measure snowfall. It can be calibrated in inches or centimeters, this device may be used in any subdivision and also the Hart. The measurement can then be relayed electronically to city yards or city hall.
After a snowfall this device is lowered vertically into the snow and the depth read on the calibrated scale. If this measurement is greater than 10 cms get out the plows.
As a civic-minded citizen I am prepared to donate two rulers to the city.
