Life's adversities will be spilling from the microphone with the opening number for Karl Wolf's Ghetto Love Fan Tour.

Steven James, better known as Verbz In Tha Mix, is set to warm up the audience with life-inspired tunes at the Roll-A-Dome Sept. 10.

"Without music I wouldn't have made it past some of the biggest obstacles in my life," said James. "Everything I've put into it has led up to where I am now. One of my goals, because music has helped me so much, is to be able to pass on the message that anybody can do what I'm doing. They just have to put their heart and soul into it and believe in themselves and believe in the music, you know?"

James grew up in Quesnel then moved to Vancouver for two years and then to Prince George where he's got family.

Life is coming full circle while moving forward for James.

"To be straight up with you the first big name I ever opened for was Karl Wolf when he played a nightclub in Surrey," said James, who said he moved to Prince George right after that.

He opened for Swollen Members Sept. 11, 2010 and then shortly after that opened for Belly and Eminem's band D12.

"So now I am opening up for Wolf again here in Prince George and last year on Sept. 11 I opened up for Swollen Members at the Roll-A-Dome and exactly a year after moving to town [Sept. 10] I will be at the same venue opening for the first big-name I ever opened for," said James, who started writing songs at 14 and 15 years old.

James started playing guitar and then got into the hip hop music scene soon after that, did some social networking at hip hop rap sites and started a home studio where he recorded tracks.

"And 500 songs later and lots of appearances at rap battles and at local hip hop shows I started to get my own little following and put together a mix tape," said James. "It took off from there."

Verbz In Tha Mix will share the stage with Ace Drow. The two performers once went head to head in a rap battle but now share the stage to open Wolf's show.

"People can expect a show filled with lots of energy, the whole crowd's going to be involved and it's going to be an amazing experience for all ages and it's going to be a wild show and I can promise everyone's going to have an amazing time."
