A throwback to Christmas traditions of days gone by can be found at Barkervile Historic Town & Park.
From Saturday, Dec. 12 to Monday, Dec. 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. visitors can find one-of-a-kind gifts, sip apple cider, have lunch, check out the Cameron and Ames Blacksmith Shop for an metal-forged treasure or a lump of coal, depending on who is on the naughty and nice list.
Visit McPherson's Watchmakers and Jewelry Store, wander over to McMahon's Confectionary for treats for the stocking and visit Father Christmas in his enchanted forest.
There's Christmas decorations available at Mason and Daly General Merchants to purchase.
"Barkerville in December is a totally unique travel destination, where families and friends can experience a one-of-a-kind, immersive stay in a truly historic holiday setting," said Carleigh Drew, Barkerville's marketing, products & activities officer in a recent news release.
James Douglas portraying Barkerville's John Bowron will recite a dramatic reading of Charles Dicken's A Christmas Carol at 1 p.m. each day at the Methodist church for a suggested donation of $5.
