A Canada Post sorting depot was evacuated and a Prince George Fire Rescue hazardous materials team called in Tuesday morning to deal with a suspicious substance. The team was called to the depot at 15th and Nicholson shortly after 9 a.m. after an employee discovered an unknown white powder spilling out of a parcel. The material was turned over to the RCMP and employees, who took shelter in a city transit bus, returned to the building by about noon. "The investigation will continue, however as this time there is no reason to believe this substance is harmful," RCMP said. "No health concerns have been reported." The incident delayed Canada Post deliveries until early afternoon.
