Beaudry draws World Cup anchor position

Burns Lake's Emily Dickson set for IBU Cup sprint in Slovenia

Sarah Beaudry of Prince George will race the anchor leg for Canada Friday in the BWM IBU World Cup biathlon 4 X 6 kilometre women's relay in Ruhpolding, Germany.

The 25-year-old Beaudry will join forces with Nadia Moser of Whitehorse, Yukon, Emma Lunder of Vernon and Megan Bankes of Calgary - the same relay lineup that finished fifth in the women's relay a month ago in Hochfilzen, Austria.

Thursday in the men's sprint, Jules Brunotte of Quebec City posted a career-best 47th place finish in a race won in 22:45.5 by Martin Fourcade of France. Brunotte missed two of his five standing targets and was 1:43.6 off Fourcade's winning pace. Quentin Fillon-Maillet of France won silver (+3.1) and Benedikt Doll of Germany (+12.0) was the bronze medalist.

Christian Gow of Canmore was 51st (+1:48.7), Christian Gow of Canmore was 60th (+2:04.9) and Aidan Millar of Canmore placed 100th (+3:16.4) out of 111 starters. Brunotte and the Gow brothers, with their top-60 finishes, qualified for Sunday's 12.5 km men's pursuit. Lunder, who was 53rd in Wednesday's sprint, will also race in the women's 10 km pursuit on Sunday.   

Meanwhile, at the IBU Cup in Bresno-Osrblie, Slovenia, 22-year-old Emily Dickson of Burns Lake is the lone Canadian entered in Friday's 7.5 km women's sprint, while Carsen Campbell of Bedeque, P.E.I., and Matthew Strum of Canmore will compete in Friday's 10 km men's sprint. 

Dickson and Campbell teamed up to finish 11th Wednesday in the single mixed relay.
