The race is on.
That's obvious to cross-country skiers who might have noticed the course markers and signs placed along the trails the past couple days at Otway Nordic Centre.
The Caledonia Nordic Ski Club is hosting its annual Stride & Glide Sports Spirit of the Rivers Loppet this Sunday, March 1st, starting at 10 a.m.
The race includes 30-kilometre, 15 km, 7.5 km and 2.5 km distances.
Skiers can register online at zone4.ca until noon on Friday. Late registrations will not be accepted. Race fees range from $30 for the 30km race to $5 for the 2.5 km event.
The classic/freestyle race is a mass start event with all skiers except the 2.5 km racers heading east out of the stadium area at Otway. The longer courses cover parts of the dog trails on the eastern edge of Otway and recreational skiers are being asked to watch out for racers.
Racing bibs and timing chips will be available for pickup between 8:30 and 9 a.m. Sunday and must be returned to race officials after the race.
