Special Olympians make fast tracks in Burns Lake

Conditions were ideal for snowshoe racing and 10 Prince George Special Olympics athletes made their marks with personal-best times Saturday at the Burns Lake competition.

Running on a groomed 400-metre track, athletes from Prince George, Burns Lake, Smithers and Williams Lake competed in six race distances - 50, 100, 200, 400, 800, and 1600 metres.

Tegan Raines of Prince George was one of the fastest of the fast, reeling in one first-place ribbon and three second-place ribbons.

Other Prince George results were as follows:

Jenny Germann - two second-place ribbons and a 4th place finish;

Marinka VanHage - two first-place ribbons, a second-place ribbon and a third place ribbon;

Cindy Komosky - two first-place ribbons, one third-place ribbon;

Shannon Raczki - two second-place ribbons, one fourth-place finish;

Chase Caron - four second-place ribbons;

Michael Harris - one first-place ribbon, a 4th place finish and a 5th place finish;

Issac Goudal - one third- place ribbon, two fourth-place finishes;

Josiah Lecher - one second-place ribbon, two third-place ribbons,

Spencer Rourke - one first-place ribbon, a second-place ribbon, two fourth-place finishes.
