P.G. biathlete Beaudry 70th in individual race at world champs

Nadia Moser of Whitehorse, Yukon finished 33rd out of 100 in the women's 12.5-kilometre individual race - the top Canadian Tuesday at the world biathlon championships in Antholz-Anterselva, Italy.

Nadia Moser of Whitehorse, Yukon  finished 33rd out of 100 in the women's 12.5-kilometre individual race - the top Canadian Tuesday at the world biathlon championships in Antholz-Anterselva, Italy.

Moser missed three of 20 targets (0+0+2+1) and ended up 4:01.9 behind pacesetter Dorothea Wierer of Italy, who won her second gold medal of the championships. Wierer, who also won Sunday's pursuit, clocked 43:07.7 (1+1+0+0).

Vanessa Hinz of Germany (+2.2, 0+0+0+1) and sprint winner Marte Olsbu Roeisland of Norway (+15.8, 0+1+0+1) won silver and bronze respectively.

In other Canadian results, Emma Lunder of Vernon placed 35th (+4:01.9, 0+1+1+2), Sarah Beaudry of Prince George was 70th (+7:25.3, 1+0+3+0) and Megan Bankes of Calgary was 87th (+9:27.0, 1+2+2+2).

Three Canadians, including World Cup rookie Emily Dickson, qualified for Sunday's pursuit. Lunder started the 60-competitor race 35th (her sprint finish) and placed 41st with four missed targets. She was 3:01.5 behind Wierer, who had just one miss in four shooting bouts.

Moser was 53rd (+4:41.5, 1+1+2+2), after starting 43rd in the order. Dickson started 56th and gained two positions to finish 54th (+5:00.2, 2+0+0+2).

Scott Gow of Canmore, the lone Canadian in the men's 12.5 km pursuit on Sunday, finished 35th (+3:34.8, 2+0+2+1) after posting a 16th-place result in the sprint.

Gow is scheduled to start 15th in Wednesday's 20 km individual race at Antholz. His brother Christian is 49th in the order, followed by Jules Brunotte of Sherbrooke, Que., (59th) and Aidan Millar of Canmore (100th).

The championships continue Thursday with the single mixed relay and the women's and men's relays on Saturday. Mass start races will end the two-week event on Sunday.
