Jones girls ride high in the saddle at Nukko Lake

Rodeo riders can never have enough saddles. The Jones sisters of Prince George have yet to reach their teens but they've already won more than a few intricate leather works of art in rodeo events to keep them glued to their horses.

Just like they did last weekend at the Prince George Tim Hortons Little Britches Rodeo northwest of the city at Nukko Lake. Twelve-year-old Fallon Jones and her nine-year-old sister Nevada were the respective High Point Senior and High Point Junior local winners and left the arena with new saddles.
Nevada aced her test in the goat tail tying competition Sunday and won the event with a 9.2-second run, after posting a second-place result the previous day. She also finished in the top-four both days in the dummy roping event and placed in the top-six in barrel racing and pole bending.
Fallon clocked 10.5 seconds on her way to a second-place finish in goat tail tying Sunday and was third on Saturday. She also placed high in the standings in barrel racing and pole bending. The actual order of finish was not available.
In other Prince George results, Send Cooper placed seventh in goat tail tying both days.
Tyler Clark was seventh in chute dogging (a version of steer wrestling for younger contestants in which they chase down their their steers on foot, rather than having to jump off the back of a horse). Clark's time on Sunday was 8.4 seconds. He also placed in the top-10 in the stake race.
Keira Higgins ended up fourth in goat tail tying and was a top-10 finisher in barrel racing, while Kayleigh Jackson posted top-10 finishes in junior barrel racing and junior pole bending.
Carson Musi, whose grandfather Gil Bowie is a Prince George legend in rodeo, traveled all the way from Camrose, Alta., to place third in steer riding both days. Braiden Kelps of Camrose was first and second in the two-day steer wrestling event.
Overall Jr. highpoint saddle winner was Kale Mikkelson of Kamloops captured the overall junior highpoint saddle and Wyatt Reid of Savona was the overall Senior High Point Saddle winner.
More than 80 contestants took part in the two-day event.
The eight-stop B.C. Little Britches circuit wraps up for the season Sept. 9-10 in Barriere.
