Free summer Y memberships for teens

YMCA of Northern BC wants kids to become healthier, more active
Here's a healthy offer Prince George teens can't refuse.
Especially for those looking for an alternative to watching a computer or TV screen.
The YMCA of Northern BC is offering free memberships for teens ages 13-18.
It's becoming more apparent that Canadian teens are not active enough and those findings are backed by the 2018 ParticipACTION Report Card on Physical Activity for Children and Youth.
According to the report, only 35 per cent of kids aged five-17 are reaching the levels of physical activity levels as recommended in the Canadian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines for Children and Youth. Kids are still sitting too much and moving too little to get their heart rates up and reap the benefits of sustained physical activity.
The free Y membership are now available and are valid through August 31. Teens can get their membership cards at the Prince George Family YMCA, 2020 Massey Drive, but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and must have photo identification. Some restrictions do  apply.
