Sarah Beaudry anchored Canada to an 11th-place finish Sunday on the World Cup biathlon tour in Antholz-Anterselva, Italy.
The 26-year-old from Prince George was tagged by teammate Megan Bankes for the final segment of the 4 X 6-kilometre race and went penalty-free in her two shooting bouts, needing just two reloads in her prone bout and one while standing.
Beaudry crossed the finish 2:40.6 after the Russian team (Evgeniya Pavlova, Tatiana Akimova, Svetlana Mironova, Uliana Kaisheva), who won gold in 1:07:32.4.
Germany (+11.0) placed second and the bronze medal went to France (+21.2).
The Canadians had one penalty loop and used 13 spare rounds.
Twenty teams entered the race.
Meanwhile, in the men’s 20-km mass start event, Johanne Thingnes Boe of Norway posted his third World Cup victory of the season. Boe was nearly perfect on the range, shooting 19-for-20 to help him finish the course in 35:44.3, 31.3 second in front of silver medalist Quinten Fillon Maillet of France. Jakov Fak of Slovenia (+44.2) won bronze. No Canadians qualified for the 30-skier race.
The BMW IBU World will take a break until the world championships in Pokljuka, Slovenia. The two-week event starts Feb. 10.
