Prince George Cougars fall to Red Deer Rebels in Family Day game

The Prince George Cougars and Red Deer Rebels hit the ice at CN Centre on Monday afternoon for a Family Day matinee match-up.

For the second time in the two games the Cougars found themselves on the losing end of a 4-2 score. Josh Tarzwell got the scoring started for the Rebels potting his 27th marker of the season 10:39 into the first period. A little over a minute later at 11:46, Cougars foward Jonny Hooker tied the game up scoring his 13th of the year. Cats forward Ethan Browne potted his 5th of the season at 7:37 into the second frame to give the Cougars the lead. Rebels forward Ethan Rowland scored his 3rd of the season 12:31 into the second frame to tie the game up. Red Deer forward Chris Douglas put the Rebels ahead scoring his 11th of the year 15:12 in the second period. Rebels forward Jayden Grubbe then put the game out of reach scoring his 6th of the season with Cougars goaltender Taylor Gauthier on the bench for the extra attacker.

Taylor Gauthier got the start in the net for the Cats stopping 23 of the 27 shots he faced. Bryon Fancy got the start between the pipes for the Rebels and turned aside 32 of the 34 shots he faced.

The loss sees the Cougars record fall to 16-30-3-4 for 39 points on the season, 9 points back of the Seatlle Thunderbirds for the second Western Conference wildcard spot. 

Attendance for the game was 5971 thanks to CN Rail, who in celebration of their 100th Anniversary, purchased all the tickets allowing families and other fans to attend the game for free.
