Cougars add forward Souch in trade with Regina

Cats sign goalie prospect, pick Russian in CHL Import Draft

The Prince George Cougars have acquired the services of 2006-born forward Brock Souch in a trade from the Regina Pats for a fifth-round pick in the 20129 WHL Prospects Draft.

Listed at six-foot, 180-pounds, Souch played in the BC Hockey League last season. He started with the Brooks Bandits for eight games then played 37 games for the Okotoks Oilers, combining for 12 goals, 19 assists and 31 points in those 45 games.

Souch, a native of Edmonton, started his junior career in the Alberta Junior Hockey League in 2022 with the Sherwood Park Crusaders. He’s committed to an NCAA scholarship in 2026 at St. Cloud University.

“Brock is a crafty player player that can play wing or centre,” said Cougars’ director of scouting Leland Mack. “He has some grit in his game and is also a tremendous teammate.”

Mack coached Souch with the Northern Alberta Xtreme when they captured the U16 Canadian Sport School Hockey League championship in 2022.

Souch also has had international success, winning gold at the World Junior A Hockey Challenge in 2023 with Canada White.

In other Cougars news, the team announced it has signed 15-year-old goalie Kole Anderosov to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.

Anderosov, a six-foot-three, 181-pound native of Campbell River, was a third-round draft choice of the Cougars in the 2025 Prospects Draft.

He played last season with St. George’s School U15 Prep (coached by former Cougars general manager Todd Harkins) and went 14-4-1 while posting a 2.48 goals-against average and .925 save percentage.

He won the CSSHL U15 top goaltender award and was named to the first all-star team.

He also played three games in the John Reid Memorial U15 tournament and as the top goaltender and first team  all-star he compiled a 1.67 GAA and .940 save percentage.

“We’re very happy to get Kole signed - he’s a bigger-bodied goalie with a strong technical foundation,” said Bob Simmonds, the Cougars director of player personnel. “Simply put, he makes saves and gives his team a chance. When you look at our recent goaltending history, from (Taylor) Gauthier to (Tyler) Brennan to (Ty) Young to (Josh) Ravensbergen, Kole has the potential to be the next name in that chain.

“We’re thrilled to welcome the Anderosov family to the Cougars.”
