The Prince George Spruce Kings have their game faces on again.

They’ll be in action tonight in Merritt (7 p.m. start) where they take on the Centennials in the first of a weekend home-and-home set that continues Sunday afternoon (3 p.m.) at Rolling Mix Concrete Arena in Prince George.

The Kings opened their preseason Oct. 10 in Merritt with a 4-1 win over the Cents.

Tonight’s game will be the first of the exhibition season for Spruce Kings’ 20-year-old defenceman Mason Waite. The Winnipeg native came to Prince George a year ago from the Lloydminster Bobcats and emerged as the Kings’ top-scoring defenceman, with seven goals and 22 assists in 51 games.

Merritt forward Brandon Dent, 19, is expected to play for the Cents tonight against his hometown team. The former Cariboo Cougar is in his third BCHL season after starting out with the West Kelowna Warriors. He collected 13 goals and 13 assists in 49 games last season while playing for the Warriors and Nanaimo Clippers.

Both games will be webcast on Hockey TV and Mixlr with Kings broadcaster Cole Waldie supplying the play-by-play descriptions. The games are not open to the public  due to the pandemic and arena capacity will be limited to no more than 50 people in the stands at either game.

The Kings returned to their home at Rolling Mix Concrete Arena late this week after more than a month practicing at the Kin Centre.
