Badminton playoffs set

The Canada Winter Games badminton competition started Monday at the Northern Sport Centre. By the end of the day, quarterfinalists in male and female singles play had been determined.

On the men's side, quarterfinal pairings are as follows: Andrew D'Souza (Ontario) vs. Nathan Osborne (Alberta); Kevin Barkman (Manitoba) vs. Philippe Giguere (Quebec); Felix DeBlois-Beaucage (Quebec) vs. James Ho (B.C.); and Jason Ho-Shue (Ontario) vs. Joshua Liu (B.C.). Matches will start at 9:30 a.m. today.

In the women's draw, the matchups for the quarterfinals are: Rachel Honderich (Ontario) vs. Nadianie Ouaqouaq-Bergeron (Quebec); Qufei Chen (Ontario) vs. Kyleigh O'Donoghue (Alberta); Monica Cowper (Alberta) vs. Qingzi Ouyang (B.C.); and Erin O'Donoghue (Alberta) vs. Brittney Tam (Ontario). The quarters will start at 9 a.m.
