It seems like residents of mocasin flats have more rights than those paying for them. Enough is enough. Get off the dru gs and have a life or go into the subsidized housing we provide. You don’t get the choice to do whatever you want, that’s not how society works.

Maybe he’ll go back to construction? He’s acting like he’s not a big part of the problem. His camp is a hoarder’s dream and he runs illegal businesses with our stolen items. He needs to go. I don’t care if he doesn’t like the options, you’re subsidized, I also don’t like having to go to work every day to subside this. Police spend most of their time there when they could be dealing with other things. Our paramedics keep reviving the same add icts over and over again while contributing members of society can’t even get an ambulance. Enough is enough. Get your b utt to work and start contributing or at least be less of a liability.

The camp is a drug den and gang affiliated. Pretty sure residents nearby deserve better.

Enabling and helping are two different things. Society has rules. They can either accept housing or move to the bush where they are in not a nuisance to society. The province also needs to step it up with mental health care and reopen some institutions. Also it’s not my job to subsidize homeless that want to have dogs and yes they are being subsidized in the camp. It’s time for some tough love because these camp is a disgrace and unacceptable. It needs to be closed down and bulldozed. This camp is not a reflection of poverty, it’s drugs and gangs.

The encampment needs to go. The province needs more rehabs and mental hewlth supports and jails. The situation is BC is unacceptable. Our courts are part of the problem and need to be accountable to the people of BC and not just the lobbies parties who are enabling the situation.

This needs to stop before houses up the hill burn down.

If it’s temporary why does it need to be right beside the encampment. It’s temporary, sure the mayor and judges wouldn’t mind having this in front of their home.

You left out the point when residents got up and left after Skakun’s unprofessional conduct and clear vendetta against Sampson. It’s disappointing that two of the councillors that voted no are going to be on the standing committee. I don’t understand why they were so against this, it’s literally an opportunity to share what they have been doing and the limitations. There’s been very little for communication in three years of this encampment. People started setting tents in April/May 2021 and the city let it happen and told us they’d get them housing right away and then the encampment just grew while bylaw encouraged all unhoused and addicted to camp only at MF because no worries they were going to seek an injunction. I don’t think they get the real fear of fires this summer. We’ve already had embers in March make it to front lawns, a deck and a vehicle. The constant air quality issues is affecting residents around the encampment. MF cannot be a free for all like the city is allowing.

There’s never enough housing because they keep being shipped here and they don’t like the free housing provided. I didn’t have the option of owning a dog when I PAID for my own apartment. Their excuses are wild, yet I’m sure the courts with accept them. I’m so done with BC enabling this. It’s unacceptable. It’s not why we pay taxes. Either the government fixes the drug crisis or they let it take it happen, but enabling it is not a solution that is working. We know what services are needed yet we spend all the money debating what services are needed. Us citizens deserve safe cities and a downtown that we can actually enjoy.
