Is this the way to run a city? Borrowing money to replace things that need replacing? What are we as taxpayers paying for? We expect tax dollars to be collected to replace and repair. The amount of money being spent on interest charges is embarrassing. Consider what could be done with the millions going out the door to make the banks rich and the taxpayers poor. Pretty sad that taxpayers are being manipulated to spend what the city doesn't have. When are cost cutting measures coming? When we go broke?

Wow, that's amazing. What will happen if we have a winter like 81/82 or 72/73? Are we going to have to give up our kitchen sinks?

Over 100 grand for an events coordinator? The city needs to seriously examine its staffing levels. We lost hundreds of jobs in the last few years, and the future will bring more. Fantasy will soon give in to reality.

Wow, almost 14 million to service our debt. Imagine if we had no debt.

The Citizen reported on October 11, 2024, that the proposed Hydrogen Plant for Prince George was a non-starter. People were hoping to tap into the Site C dam for electricity, but it was unfeasible. To me, this is another get-rich scheme for a few on the backs of weary BC taxpayers. This green energy mantra is proving to be nothing more than a green scheme to profit a few.

The City of Prince George's administration must stop spending taxpayer money like it's 1966. The boom is over folks.

How to wreck a neighbour 101: Remember the current housing extension on Southridge South. Also, remember that turning Wal-Mart-bound leads through a school zone at the intersection of Southridge and St. Lawrence. Remember turning left at the lights at the bottom of St. Lawrence unto Domano leads to another school zone where we have buses and parents dropping off young people. Sending another 1000 or so cars into those areas only increases hazards. At least put in another road, maybe utilize North Road and channel to the highway. But the way it is now will only create havoc. Also, consider the redevelopment of the former Catholic high school and the bottleneck created on Malaspina Avenue from the Creek Side area. I think some of these developers need to put up some money for road work and not make a problem and then the taxpayer is left cleaning up the mess.

Why can't we build smaller homes? 700 to 1000 square feet. Take a walk along Burden Street for example and see the small post-war homes that have sheltered occupants for almost a hundred years. We need to get back to reality when building housing. Small homes can go up a lot faster than waiting for modular homes to be delivered. These big houses being built today are ridiculous and become unaffordable for most people. There is a bigger profit to be made on big houses, but not so much when you can't sell them. Also, why are building lots so expensive in our city? Are we running out of room? Lower the prices of lots and build smaller and more affordable homes.

It's a good start but needs some tweaking. We need a little more coordination with the Ambulance Service (to reduce overlap) and the RCMP to provide security when needed. Designate the Fire Department for Fire/Rescue only. Create an associated department with the Fire Department called the "Drug Rescue" with a couple of pickup trucks equipped for the job. With the Fire Department designated as Fire/Rescue only, some employees should be freed for the "Drug Rescue Unit" and make it a bid job from among the ranks, supervised by the current management at the Fire Department. Then if more help is required consider hiring.

It doesn't surprise me that the intersection at Domano Blvd and Highway 16 has the top rating for accidents, even after a major upgrade a few years ago. I use this intersection just about every day. There is just too much going on in this area. There are two merge lanes nearby, and the one-off Southridge to Highway 16 is too short, especially if you are trying to merge with a freight truck or trucks in the eastbound lane. This merge area is near the speed reduction from 80 kph to 60 kph just west of the Southridge overpass. Most traffic is not doing 60 near that merge and more than once I have had to take the off-road into the Canadian Tire area and start again. At certain times of the day, you have no hope of making it to the turning lane going up to UNBC. It's time to have the bridge put across the Fraser connecting to Boundry Road and take all or most of that heavy truck traffic off Peden Hill.
