There's a new 23-seater bus in town for the next two weeks to see if the bus will be a valuable addition to the B.C. Transit system.
It's been tested elsewhere and now the Vicinity will be used here to see how it performs in our climate and terrain.
Tests so far show the 27-and-a-half foot bus will be cost saving in fuel and maintenance, while drivers say it's easier to drive with better visibility and customers like the smoother ride.
Along with the 23 seated passengers there is room for 16 more to stand. The new model is 8.4 metres long, compared to 12-metre long standard buses.
"The Vicinity is just the latest example of B.C. Transit's long history of testing new and innovative ways of improving service to passengers, the community and the environment," said Shirley Bond, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure.
