The Canada Games flag was raised at Prince George City Hall to honour the start of the 2011 Canada Winter Games in Halifax Friday afternoon.
The flag raising will mark the beginning of Prince George's four-year countdown as hosts for the 2015 Canada Winter Games.
"The official Canada Games flag has visited each past-host community while en route to today's opening ceremony in Halifax," said acting mayor Shari Green, in a recent news release. "We are so pleased to have our own flag-raising ceremony today to mark Prince George's addition to the Canada Games host family."
The games in Halifax takes place over the next two weeks.
