Kris Cole's letter to the editor on Feb. 5 ("Kids' lives at risk at problem crosswalk") really hit home for me. A year and a half ago I was pushing my twin one-year-old girls in their stroller across a 15th Avenue crosswalk along with my brother.

It's bad enough that we only have one walk-in clinic in this city, but then you have to put up with the fact that they are only open limited hours through the week. This creates line ups and long wait times.

Reading the paper last week on the front page was an article about the city government wanting to increase their wages.

Most of the time I offer opinions on much larger issues but every so often a local dilemma exemplifies our innate humanities. These incidents prove again and again the indomitable human spirit.
