As I step outside into the pouring rain, I get a whiff of wet grass and mud, mixing together to create a fresh yet unpleasant odour.

Starting in today's paper and running for the rest of the week, Citizen readers will be seeing plenty of stories about Burns Lake.

Hike of the Week

Sincere thanks to the Prince George community who came out in force and joined the fight against cancer in April with the Canadian Cancer Society Daffodil Month.

According to RCMP statistics, there will be three deaths, 489 injuries, and 1700 crashes this long weekend. Police say they will have a full complement of officers. I'm not sure how many that is, but clearly it isn't enough with these numbers.

This week, I have three very nice wines that I enjoyed with each being somewhat of a surprise to me. There are two good red wines and a white that revealed itself in a sort of unconventional way. I hope you like them as well as I did. Cheers.

Some flowers have to be seen to be noticed while others are observed by just their fragrance. If a flower is really lucky it can be both beautiful and fragrant. The lilac is one such flower.

I just wanted to send a big thank you to the chefs and the students at CNC for hosting such a wonderful fundraiser for the families that were affected by the Lakeland Mills fire.

I am sick and tired of entrepreneur types asking for tax holidays when they invest in this city. Used to be if you had some money to invest , you took your chance. Sometimes you lost it and sometimes you made a fortune.
