Changing the name of the school in the name of reconciliation is ridiculous.

As I stated in a letter last year, the students, teacher, parents, and alumni of Kelly Road secondary school do not want a name change. Kelly Road is a part of the Hart culture.

I've been reading a lot of polarizing posts about the proposed name change for the new Kelly Road Secondary and wanted to voice an opinion that I think not a lot of people have been considering.

Further to the Feb. 26 article "Kelly Road name change suggested", to say that I am saddened and disappointed in most of the comments floating around out there regarding this proposed change does not fully encompass my emotions.

As a Grade10 student of Kelly Road, I do not agree with the proposed name change. Kelly Road is more than just a name, it has become a community and has been around for more than 50 years.

I am so impressed with the courageous decision the school board had made to support changing the name of Kelly Road School to better reflect the natural history of the area.

Seems like there are a lot of folks against the proposed name for the new Hart high school under construction to replace Kelly Road. See what I did there? Folks, Kelly Road school will be bulldozed this fall.

I often tell my students that there are more ways to be smart than the manner we have traditionally measured intelligence in the classroom.

Have you ever thought about what your life would be like without nature? We live in a very lucky place to experience natural wonders and forests as the background to our lives . Now imagine the movie Wall-E that came out in 2008.

It is just part of the human condition that I will occasionally be infuriated when I see the types of books on display at a library or in bookstores.
