Only last week, a Prince George soldier was laid to rest after giving his life in Afghanistan.

A less-known effect of the so-called "great recession" that began last year is the major shift in Canadian consumers' buying habits. They have switched some of their purchases from brand-name items to private-label goods.

I have noticed the gradual change in the make-up of professional people, such as doctors, teachers, lawyers, etc. Their make-up is becoming more and more female-oriented.

I sit here shocked and stunned that SD 57 has decided to shut down one of the best schools in the district, John McInnis junior secondary.

As a new resident to Prince George (having moved here recently from Manitoba) naturally, one of the first things on my mind was getting set up in the health-care system. I dutifully registered for B.C. care card, which I have since received.
