To start off the new year and the January semester, I was diagnosed with a chronic illness. It came as a huge shock, because no one in my family has this disease and I was a healthy, fit, 22 year old. It was the biggest struggle of my life staying in school while I dealt with the physical and emotional aspects of this disease. I questioned the purpose of life itself, and why I was wasting it trying to keep up with my school work. Those dark days almost got the better me. What helped me see the potential I knew I had was a professor of mine. He shared the struggles he had when he was battling cancer. This is one example of what our UNBC professors do for their students. The UNBC faculty deserves everything they are asking for and far beyond that. Education gives something to everyone. To me, it gave hope of a purposeful life.
