On Nov. 4, I suffered serious injuries requiring emergency transport by ambulance to UHNBC.

My first several hours were spent in the trauma bay in the emergency department and then to Surgical South, where I spent 12 days. During my hospital stay, I required two separate surgeries to repair my broken pelvis and hip. Firstly, I commend the fire fighters, paramedics, police and emergency room staff for their assistance and care. Your performance was exemplary and I will be forever grateful.

I also give heartfelt thanks to all of the physicians (Dr. Rob Johnson), surgeons (Dr. Olmstead, Dr. Costa and Dr. Nelson) and nursing staff that cared for me from day one. Each one of you played a key role in keeping me comfortable and as pain-free as possible during this difficult time.

Although there are too many staff names to list, please know that your dedication to patient care for those in emergency, the operating room and Surgical South will not be forgotten.
