Because we're only a mere 30 days away from a first in Prince George, I thought I would dedicate my Song of the Day to William Shatner's upcoming local appearance.
I am sure you've all heard but - please say this part in a slightly breathless shriek of disbelief because that's how I'm writing it - Captain James T. Kirk is coming to the Northern FanCon May 8 to 10 at CN Centre.
Yup, that's right. Us gentle folk of the older generation are going to be thrown into the fray with the nerds and geeks (I looked it up, you're supposed to call them that) as we all rush to the event that could be better than the United Nations or Coca Cola commercials of the 60s for bringing generations together.
Just imagine all those people who enjoy cosplay - which means they dress up as characters from their favourite shows - like Star Wars' Luke SkyWalker, or zombies, vampires and God only knows what else because I am out of the loop-dee-loop on this one.
So here I will be, all dressed up in high heels and my best pearls, walking into CN Centre along with a wookie, Captain America, and some guy from the Twilight Zone - literally, all getting into the lineup to meet William Shatner.
It's gonna be so great!
I hope I can convince my posse of the grey-haired-and-wrinkled-kind to come with me as we boldly go where no oldster has gone before - to have a close encounter of the Shatner kind at Northern FanCon.
So please enjoy the introduction to Star Trek, the original series, of course, just like I heard it on TV every week by visiting youtu.be/hdjL8WXjlGI.
