I couldn't help but wonder at the level of gobbledygook, sorry, science speak used by the author in his atricle entitled "Big Bang theory more than a sitcom" (March 5, 2015).

Mr. Whitcombe's statement that "the big bang theory, on the other hand, posits the beginning of the ..."

I looked up the definition of posits just to clarify in my own mind what I was reading.

1. a statement that is made on the assumption that it will prove to be true.

It seems to me the author uses the plural noun in this instance with the operative word being "assumption", therefore if I apply this definition I can pretty much assume anything I like no matter how ridiculous.

In the article, everything after the word posits in analogous to the word "but" negating all that follows as mere speculation. To be honest I abhor articles that present fact as fantasy.

True knowledge is a wonderful thing. Wisdom is even better but nothing beats discernment.
