I am absolutely amazed by the quality results and tremendous success the City of Prince George has achieved this year cleaning up and remedying derelict properties, all in part by combining due diligence and a dynamic work ethic.
Unfortunately, the Regional District of Fraser Fort George has been the complete opposite in the performance of their bylaw enforcement duties.
This aspect has literally allowed decades of reckless behaviour, the consequence has made derelict properties become more common or typical in rural areas.
The excuse the regional district has used is derelict properties convey the "majority" of most rural areas and is basically typical and normal conduct, with no fault found!
Essentially, what it all boils down to is the regional district avoiding their sole responsibilities to real actual bylaw enforcement.
This reality has manifested into a truly sad but correctable situation.
I truly hope its not a matter of, "it's NOT that anything can be done, it just so much easier to do nothing."
This type of action is shameful and works for no one.
