Pat on the back for hospital staff

Eight years ago I had to unexpectedly use the ER and eventually the ICU unit of our hospital. Being in the state I was, I was not really aware of the care I was given. Flash forward to this year. My girlfriend's mother had a stroke and due to complications of the necessary surgery, ended up in ICU. There, in the five days she was there, I got to witness first hand what I had previously taken for granted.

There, the two nurses who where assigned to Eva's bed were amazing. Each day I witnessed the medical care given with a professional but loving touch. I'm sure they knew what the eventual outcome would be, but they persevered, giving Eva as much comfort as they could while she fought to live. Now I know what I got as well.

Thank you to nurses Roxanne and Laura for their dedication and to the nursing fraternity at large for choosing to give your compassion in such a way. Eva's family is eternally grateful.

Sometimes we all need a small pat on the back and this is one way for me to give one.
