Letter to the editor: Gas price gouging continues

Once again, Vancouver prices have dropped over 10 cents since their peaks but here we are still sitting at our peak prices of $2.16.

Disbelief watching how much money it takes to fuel up a car with gas.

The initial surge of oil prices to $123 per barrel caused wholesale gas prices in Prince George to spike to $1.65/L and retail price to $2.16/L.

Oil prices have since dropped to $110 per barrel and wholesale as low as $1.55/L. Yet most gas stations keep their prices at $2.16.

Why are we constantly being targeted in central and northern B.C. for gas price gouging and why do we continue to accept this?

Once again, Vancouver prices have dropped over 10 cents since their peaks but here we are still sitting at our peak prices of $2.16.

According to Dan McTeague, President of Canadians for Affordable Energy, he predicts that on average, our prices should be at $2.10 a litre. I thought blatant gas price gouging was supposed to be kept in check by the BCUC. Yet here we are, a clear and easily proven case of price gouging, getting overlooked and/or ignored by our leaders.
