I am 67 years old. I live in a duplex that has lane access parking only. Although I have phoned the city five or six times the lane remains unplowed. Last year it was cleared twice. I cannot park on street overnight lest my vehicle is towed away. When I phoned, I was told by a city worker that lanes had lowest priority. I understand that. However I only have one parking space and I reach it via the lane between Alward and Burden streets.
Last spring I mentioned that a load of street sweepings could be layered on the lane thereby building it back up without using new materials. Spring thaws cause five to six inches of water to accumulate in low lying sections of the lane so that with slush and refreezing the lane is difficult to use.
Actually, if all the street sweepings were used in this manner, there would not be numerous piles all around the city waiting to be disposed of. Just a thought.
