A holiday surprise was shared at Southridge elementary school on Nov. 23, which was a delightful gift for Christmas. Students and staff gave their all at this concert in honour of Canada's 150 Birthday celebration. It gave the luster of freedom from the Atlantic East Coast to the Pacific North Coast. To be entertained and enlightened about our beautiful country at this special time of year added a feeling of amazing pride.
The songs, music, costumes and commentating, including an introduction by Samuel De Champlain and Sir John A. MacDonald to mention only a couple of guests, added special memories of days gone by from 1867 until 2017.
When I ask myself, "What is Canada?" this concert answered my question. Canada's values, freedom and the hard work to arrive at these values was well expressed. The 150 years of history behind us tells about perseverance, sacrifices and endurance that Canadians are capable of.
Like the administrator indicated in two words at the end of the concert, today holds "Forever Memories."
