City of Prince George not visitor friendly

My husband and I live in Missouri. On Jan. 31, we were visiting my Mom at the Rainbow Lodge Care Facility. We had parked on the opposite side of the street because it looked as though they were planning on cleaning the side of the street directly in front of the facility.

About half an hour after we had gone in to visit, we needed something from the car. My husband went out to get it only to find the car gone. Long story short - according to the snow-covered sign, there was no parking in that block from November to April. There were numerous other cars parked on the street - being from out of town and unable to read the sign because it had been snowing for two days, we parked there. The tow truck driver had towed the car a few blocks away because he didn't have time to take it to the impound yard immediately. He was very helpful said he would take my husband to the car and would only charge us $100 instead of the normal $200.

The grader operator said he had honked his horn - I guess that is the sign for local people to "move your cars!"

The tow truck driver, grader operator and the loader operator were very kind and tried to be helpful. The tow truck driver called the City of Prince George explaining that we were from out of town, sign was obscured by snow, etc.

Didn't matter - the city wanted their money!

I am really hoping that with all the people coming into Prince George for the Winter Games that Prince George city officials will be a little more understanding than they were with us.
