Be proud

Thank you Winter Games for letting me be part of the most amazing event I have been to in 41 years of living here. To all the naysayers about anything we do in Prince George don't read this it will be injurious to your health.

Thank you Winter Games for letting me be part of the most amazing event I have been to in 41 years of living here.

To all the naysayers about anything we do in Prince George don't read this it will be injurious to your health.

I want to say a huge thanks to Stu Ballantyne and his crew for the best event ever in Prince George, to be a volunteer was not only and honour and a privilege but also very humbling. To the Citizen staff, thanks for incredible coverage, to the Jim Pattison Group local TV coverage certainly aced any other TV networks. Thanks to our news crew standing outside each and every night keeping us up to date on our athletes.

Thanks to my new Special Olympic skater Michael from Whitehorse who I managed to get into CBC radio with Will Fundal and Russell Bowers. He was thrilled when will Will sang the national anthem in exchange for a Yukon pin. Michael went home with a huge smile on his face, so thanks Special Olympics.

Finally, thanks to our 3,500 athletes and to you die hard volunteers all 5,000 of you. Thanks to our mayor Lynn Hall and council and our MLAs. Prince George, be proud of our city! When I moved here 41 years ago, I really got to know the people and it's you people who make this city the great place it is. The next time you're asked to volunteer remember this - if it's meant to be, it's up to me.

Thanks again Canada Winter Games, athletes, volunteers, fans and to you citizens of Prince George.
