Now that the 2015 Canada Winter Games that were held in Prince George were a complete success I feel that my two cents are in order.
Some of the athletes were successful and others were not but that is beside the point. Those athletes were the best that each province or territory had to offer and all had fun.
What's more, I bet that they all are thankful for the hospitality that they received from us, the citizens of Prince George. Regardless of our less than stellar reputation that Macleans magazine had in the past branded us with.
Honourable mention goes out to all of the volunteers that gave it their all. But that is uniquely a Canadian thing. Thirteen million Canadians volunteer over two billion hours of their time yearly to improve people's lives and their communities.
The Federal Government of Canada has created the Prime Minister's Volunteer Awards to recognize outstanding individuals, innovative nonprofit organizations and forward thinking businesses that help make this country great. For more information about the Awards and to learn when you can nominate an outstanding person or organization, visit pm.gc.ca/eng/prime-ministers-volunteer-awards.
In closing, hats off to the transportation industry as they are in my opinion undoubtedly the clear winners of the 2015 Winter Games that were held in Prince George. They won in the past, this present and hopefully the future. I say this because it was them that got the athletes to the games in the first place. And after all was said and done they also got the athletes, coaches journalists, etc. back home again safely.
