A word with the oil companies

I just saw that the CRTC, an arm of the federal government, is advocating that cable service providers offer a low cost cable package to consumers.

I just saw that the CRTC, an arm of the federal government, is advocating that cable service providers offer a low cost cable package to consumers. Great, it's about time!

Now maybe the government can advocate to the oil companies that the price we pay at the pumps for gasoline is far too high, given the currently low price of a barrel of oil is less than 50 per cent what it was last year.

And gasoline prices have fallen how much? From a local high of 136.9 to 100.99 or about a 25 per cent drop. Seems to me that in years past as crude oil prices rose that was all the oil companies needed to jack up the price of gasoline an equal amount. Fuel costs impact us all from the cars we drive, the vacations we travel on, to the food we eat and the goods we buy which have to be shipped in.

Come on, government, it's time for you to demand the oil companies play fair.
