Sorry, but this was no coincidence -- it proves the existence of fate.

At basically the same time Sunday night as Alexandre Bilodeau was claiming Canada's first home-soil Olympic gold medal, and did it in the moguls event, Myelle Nicole Bellavance arrived.

No, Myelle didn't jump into her life doing a double-daffy twist, a lay-full-full, or an iron cross grab -- she'll save that for later. She came out weighing seven pounds eight ounces, measured at 21 inches long, and with a healthy head of hair.

Call me a softy all you want, but when the first-born child of Scott Bellavance, an Olympian in 2002 in men's moguls, and his wife Dreanne is delivered in conjunction with a gold, that's pre-determined on a level higher than any of us.
