August 28, 1928 - August 5, 2025
Yvette passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 5th, 2025. Born August 28th 1928 Vancouver, B.C. - Yvette Thresa Lebel. She moved to Prince George in 1949, worked as an LPN in the Prince George Hospital, where she met Owen William Morton. They were married October 21, 1950, and had six children, Maureen (Dave) Faulkner, Kerry (Donald) Miller, Glory (Ken) Wilkinson, Thomas (Wendy) Morton, Erin Morton, and Howard Morton (died May 24, 2009).
Owen Morton died January 5, 1992.
Yvette is survived by her brother Louis Lebel and sister Rita Bailey as well as her six grandchildren, Sarah Miller, Emma Miller (great granddaughters - Jessica and Tara Patterson); Hattie (Jack) Darney (great grandchildren - Cassandra and Austin Darney); Katie (Olivier) de Colombel (great grandchildren - Lily, Atlas and Maëlis de Colombel); Zachary (Sonia) Morton (great granddaughter Quinn Morton); Benjamin Morton-Coray. Step Granddaughter, Brandy (John-Eric) Ludwig (step great grandsons - Kael, Parker and Gavin Ludwig) Step Grandson, Ben (Allie) Zielke (step great grandsons - Max and Cooper Zielke).
While busy raising her children, Yvette loved to read, garden, draw, cook and bake, becoming well known for her bagels. In the community of Nukko Lake, B.C. she and Owen were active, often volunteering time and help during social events. Yvette was very artistic, often lending her talent and skills to the Nukko Lake Elementary School. She loved to sing, and taught us many melodies. In her 80s, Yvette found herself hosting tea parties for friends, often gathering people around her.
The family would like to thank the staff at Gateway, and Dr. Yu for their kindness and care.
Yvette requested no funeral, and wished to be cremated.
A private family gathering will be held to honor her life and passing.
