Uta Schuler

October 1, 1938 - August 16, 2025

I have slopes to ski and powder to find And many high mountains to view and climb With places to travel, adventures to live New things to learn, and more to give.

Uta had a passion for the outdoors and encouraged many people to join her hiking in summer or back country in winter. As a friend commented, “She got you doing things…..and at times it could be quite an adventure.”

Uta loved travelling, music and the arts. You could expect to see her at most cultural events in Prince George. Her enthusiasm didn’t stop here. She also participated in many, many programs offered in Prince George from Meals on Wheels, the Red Cross Medical Loans Equipment, Library program for shut ins and the list goes on.

Uta was born in Germany. As a young woman she trained in London, England as a nurse, then followed her brother Dick first to Buffalo and then to Vancouver where she became a public health nurse. Her first job took her to the high Arctic, before she chose to settle in Prince George. Retirement didn’t slow Uta down.

Tschuss (Bye) Uta ……may your pack be light and the breeze be gentle. You will be missed by your extended family and friends.

Thank you to the staff at Simon Fraser Lodge, and to Drs Hillhouse and Carter, for your kindness and care of Uta.

A celebration of life for Uta will take place Oct 1st, 2-4pm at Otway.
