August 21, 1921 - June 7, 2025
Peacefully passed away at the beautiful age of 103 on June 7th, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family and her very best friends Tricia, Maggie and Lois.
Joy was born in Birmingham England where she spent her childhood with her parents and her older brother.
Joy was predeceased by her brother Don, her loving husband Robert and her son Hugh.
During WW2 Joy joined the Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corp, a branch of the British Army Medical Service where she served for 5 years. In 1948 she came to Canada and settled in Comox B.C. In 1950 she met and married Bob and a year later they were blessed with the birth of their son Hugh.
In 1955 Bob was transferred to Prince George where they lived and met so many dear friends. Together they travelled across Canada and to Mexico in their iconic Westphalia van enjoying canoeing, skydiving and parasailing. They lived a wonderful life in Prince George. Both Bob and Joy were huge supporters of the Arts and Drama clubs and were founding members of Theatre Workshop.
Later in life Joy resided at the Jubilee Lodge where she received the very best care. The love and attention was exceptional and many thanks to the doctors and nurses there.
Joy is survived by many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. When she was asked her secret to longevity she always replied “You must be a loving, caring person but remember to be just
A LITTLE BIT WICKED”
There will be no service, by her request, and in lieu of flowers please make a donation to Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation Seniors Wellness.
