RCMP arrest suspect in gas station/convenience store robbery

Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the robbery of a gas station/convenience store near the downtown core Friday afternoon. At about 1:15 p.m., a man walked into the Petro Canada at 2420 Fifth Ave.

Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the robbery of a gas station/convenience store near the downtown core Friday afternoon.

At about 1:15 p.m., a man walked into the Petro Canada at 2420 Fifth Ave., and produced a knife as he demanded the clerk hand over the cash from the till. He fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money and was seen running north on Carney Street.

Prince George RCMP were called to the scene and a dog handler was brought in to try to pick up the scent of the robber. At about 2 p.m., police arrested the suspect, an 18-year-old man, near the corner of Third Avenue and Carney Street.

There were no injuries. The investigation is continuing.
