Representatives of the University of Northern British Columbia administration and Faculty Association are to resume bargaining later today, UNBC FA president Stephen Rader said.

The Faculty Association's 350 members have been on strike for six days.

Along with members of other unions joining them on the picket lines, Rader said faculty from around the country have been sending letters to the UNBC Board of Governors "demanding that it offer UNBC faculty sector-norm salaries without requiring concessions on rights.

"The ability of professors to co-manage a university is a fundamental pillar of academic governance, and any attempt to erode this leads inevitably to decreases in academic quality and standards."

Classes on campus remain cancelled.
